For over 15 years, COOT has been playing all original music, inspired by the rich legacy of New Orleans' rhythm & blues, funk, and street music traditions. COOT features Brian Rueb as the primary songwriter on guitar and vocals, Hirsh Katzen on guitar and vocals, Dan Weiner on bass, and Aaron Wolfson and Andreas Argenti on drums and percussion.

 

Sarah Quintana
Sarah Quintana is a traditional jazz vocalist, singer/songwriter from New Orleans. She made her debut this past year at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival on the Lagniappe stage and is releasing her first album of Traditional Jazz standards in November on Abitian Records, featuring John Rankin, Tom Fischer and Jason Marsalis. She resides in New Orleans. Quintana is a passionate songwriter and is looking forward to upcoming projects.

Sarah Quintana est une chanteuse auteure, compositrice de jazz traditionnel. Elle vient de la Nouvelle Orléans. Elle a fait ses débuts en février 2009 au festival de jazz de la Nouvelle Orléans (le Fest Jazz) sur la scène du Lagniappe. Elle sortira un album de standards de jazz en novembre prochain (disque Abitian) avec des chansons de John Rankin, Tom Fischer et Jason Marsalis. Elle vie entre la Nouvelle Orléans et Marseille. Compositrice passionnée, elle a des projets pleine la tête…..

 

 

Wazozo
French Chansons and Musettes String Band from New Orleans. Helen Gillet sings songs primarily from the 1940's and 50's french art song tradition by artists such as Georges Brassens and Edith Piaf and adds a fresh, organic, theatrical and New Orleans rhythmic style to them. "Newton Circus" is Wazozo's debut record and includes Daron Douglas on violin, Gregory Good on guitar, Luke Brecthelsbauer on harp, Bill Strickland on french horn, Walt McClements on accordion and Helen Gillet on cello and vocals. "Newton Circus" is available at the Louisiana Music Factory or at any of their live shows.

 

Country Fried
New Orleans quartet Country Fried brings a new outlook to an old genre, helping to revive acoustic outlaw country. Telling the stories of themselves and friends through original songs that speak of the highs and lows that life brings, Country Fried brings back the “feeling” of country music.

 

Margie Perez
Margie Perez is a dynamic and vivacious performer specializing in a versatile blend of Blues, Pop, and New Orleans Funk. She has put together a fabulous band with whom she performs at clubs, festivals, and parties. This year they performed at the Radio Indigo & Blues Festival in Bangalore India, the Freret Street Festival, and this marked the first year Margie played with her band at the French Quarter Festival. She has released a new CD, "Singing For My Supper", which is about to be re-released on Threadhead Records, a non-profit label dedicated to funding projects by New Orleans musicians. "Where Yat?" Magazine calls the CD "a pleasing eclectic mix of styles and tempos." It is receiving regular airplay on New Orleans radio station WWOZ.
