L’Ecole Franco-Americaine
L’Ecole Franco-Americaine was founded in 1986 under the auspices of Audubon Montessori School. It was granted a charter by The Orleans Parish School Board after Katrina. ACS operates under the management of a non-profit organization, French And Montessori Education, Inc. (FAME).
L’Ecole Franco-Américaine Audubon a été fondée en 1986 au sein de l’Ecole Audubon Montessori. Nous avons un statut d'école publique « Charter School » dupuis Katrina. Le conseil d’administration, F.A.M.E., Inc., est une association à but non-lucratif.
Accreditation by the French Government is granted only after a school has met national requirements for teaching standards and academic performance. It assures the students that they will receive full credit for their courses and can transfer to any French educational institution in the world. It also ensures that American students at ACS will receive an excellent education while learning French in a French setting.
Le Ministère de l’Education Nationale français accorde l’homologation à une école si l’enseignement y est conforme aux instructions officielles. Les élèves doivent aussi se soumettre aux évaluations nationales françaises et obtenir de bons résultats à celles-ci. Les élèves quittant Audubon peuvent entrer dans toute autre école homologuée ou dans une école américaine.

Audubon Charter School is the only public elementary school in Louisiana accredited by the French Ministry of National Education in first through fifth grades. We offer full time pre-kindergarten programs for 3 and 4 year-olds, a kindergarten, and middle school classes through eighth grade.
L’Ecole Franco-Américaine est la seule école elementaire homologuée en Louisiane. L’homologation par le Ministère Nationale va du cours préparatoire au Cours Moyen 2eme année. L’école propose aussi un enseignement en français pour les enfants de 3 à 5 ans, ainsi que pour les classes de collège.
- Students are bilingual within their elementary education years. Parents need not be able to speak French. French homework tutors are available.
Les élèves sont bilingues en fin de primaire. Les parents n’ont pas besoin d’être francophones pour inscrire leur enfant. Il exist une aide aux devoirs après la classe.
- ACS students score on or above the French national average on French national tests. Their English test scores are consistently in the top 10% statewide. Students continue to the best secodary schools in the area.
Aux évaluations nationales françaises, les résultats sont égaux ou supérieurs à la moyenne. Résultats supérieurs d’au moins 10% aux tests louisianais. Les élèves continuent leur scolarité dans les meilleurs lycées de la région.
- Special programs: Gifted Resource, Talented in Visual Arts or Theater, English as a second language.

In most countries around the world, people speak more than one language. In today’s international economy, knowledge of a foreign language can help to gain new opportunities in business and Foreign Service.
Le mondialisation domine l’économie actuelle. Parler une langue étrangère offre plus de débouchés dans le commerce ou permet d’obtenir des postes à l’étrangère.
SAT scores are higher for students who average four or more years of foreign language study. These students are more valuable in today’s international job market.
Les résultats aux examens « SAT » sont plus élèves si les candidats ont étudié une langue étrangère pendant plus de 3 ans.
Creativity, analytical and adaptation skills are put to early use. Children who learn about a culture other than their own have less prejudice toward people from other countries.
La créativité, les capacités d’analyse et d’adaptation sont stimulée trés tôt chez les enfants. En grandissant, ils ont moins de préjugés envers les étrangers.

Beginning in 2008-2009, children entering the first grade at Audubon must have attended one year of French kindergarten and at least one year of French pre-kindergarten.
Dés 2008-2009, les enfants inscrits au cours préparatoire à Audubon auront eu 2 ans de français en moyenne et en grande sections de maternelle.
Candidates for the upper grades may have to pass a proficiency test if they do not come from a French-accredited school. Our full time French faculty is composed of certified teachers who speak French as their first language.
Les enfants souhaitant s’incrire au-delà de la moyenne section doivent passer un examen en français si ils ne viennent pas d’une école homologuée. Nos enseignants sont tous de langue maternelle française et titulaires en France ou Etats-Unis.
Due to an agreement between the French government and the Government of Louisiana, French nationals residing in Orleans and surrounding parishes may enroll in the French program.
Les accords Franco-Louisianais autorisent tout ressortissant français résidant en Louisiane à inscrire son enfant à l’Ecole Franco-Américaine Audubon. Cet accord a été signé par l’état de la Louisiane et le gouvernement français.
