Edwin M. Shorty Jr. received his undergraduate degree from Southern University at New Orleans with a major in Business Administration, then went on to earn a J.D. at the Southern University Law Center.

He served as a Law Clerk for the Louisiana Senate, where he reviewed and drafted legislation, and as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Piper Griffin, Judge for the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans. Mr. Shorty has been the General Counsel for Desire Narcotics Rehabilitation Center, a non-profit agency, and the Owner of Edwin Shorty & Associates, with primary practice areas in Bankruptcy and Personal Injury.

He is now a Managing Partner in Shorty, Dooley & Hall L.L.C., with primary practice areas in Family Law, Criminal Cases, Personal Injury, Bankruptcy and Real Estate Transactions.
