Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Arrival & Dismissal procedures are further detailed in the Parent Student Handbook.

Broadway Campus
Supervision is provided when our gates open at 8:10 a.m. Our official school day begins at 8:20 a.m. Do not drop children off earlier than 8:10 as supervision is not provided until then. Students who are not enrolled in Charter Care are not allowed on the school grounds prior to 8:10 a.m.   Students dropped off before 8:10 and are not enrolled in Charter Care, are not the responsibility of the school.   Charter Care is availble at 7:00 a.m.

For teachers to properly supervise their children at dismissal time, parents must remain outside the gates and wait for your child to come to you.

Carrollton Campus
Supervision is provided when our gates open at 7:50 a.m. Our official school day begins at 8:00 a.m. Do not drop children off earlier than 7:50 as supervision is not provided until then. Students who are not enrolled in Charter Care are not allowed on the school grounds prior to 8:00 a.m.   Students dropped off before 7:50 and are not enrolled in Charter Care, are not the responsibility of the school.   Charter Care is availble at 7:00 a.m.

Students should report directly to Charter Care, Arts Reach, Athletics or Tutoring at dismissal.  Students not in any official after school activities must leave campus immediately after dismissal.

Any student found unsupervised on campus (inside the school gates) before 7:50 a.m. or after 3:25 p.m. will be subject to disciplinary action, including detention, in-school suspension or out-of-school suspension.

Re-Registration for Returning Students

Returning students must re-register each year by the scheduled date. Since many new families enter a lottery for spots at the school, and there are typically waiting lists at all levels, ALL returning students must re-register or lose placement at Audubon for the 2008-09 school year.

Parents will not be able to register students without proof of residency.  Bring three proofs of residence for Orleans Parish – original documents and one set of copies. Proofs must be in the Parent/Guardian’s name and the same address as the student. The following are the only acceptable documents:

  • Voter Registration Card
  • W-2 Form
  • Current Lease
  • Vehicle Registration
  • Welfare Card
  • Utility Bill
  • Property Tax Form
  • Telephone Bill
  • Payroll check stub with home address
  • Driver’s License or State ID Card
  • Federal or State Income Tax Return

The school nurse asks parents to bring in a current immunization record for your child at re-registration or before the start of the new school year.

The $100.00 annual consumable fee is also be collected at re-registration. The PTO is also available to collect membership dues for the upcoming school year.

Traffic Safety

During arrival and dismissal, please adhere to the 20mph speed limit for school zones.

Be mindful of our neighbors and do not block driveways (the law requires 5 feet from the driveway) – even if it is only for 5 minutes.

All vehicles should travel one-way around the Broadway campus in a clockwise direction from Broadway.

Please do NOT use the Carrollton Campus's Short Street entrance as this the delivery entrance before school and the play yard during the school day.

Do not park in the Freight Zone or delivery gates at either location.  Tickets are issued daily to cars parked in the Freight Zones.

Obey all traffic crossing guards. Emphasize to your child the importance of following the directions of the crossing guards.

Make sure your vehicle is completely stopped and in park before your child(ren) enters or exits the vehicle.

There may be teachers at the Garfield Street entrance and the Hurst Street entrance to open car doors for students during arrival and dismissal.  This is a NEW arrival process, and one that we hope will ensure a quick and smooth traffic flow.
