8th grade trip

Outings

Students participate in field trips to explore our community, to expand their understanding of a topic and/or subject area. Typically, classes will attend the zoo, theater, concerts and art exhibits as an extension of their classroom studies. Trips for older students are planned to historical and cultural sites within New Orleans as well as out of state.

Students at both campuses may also go on "walking field trips" to nearby locations with their teachers. Audubon Zoo and Park, Tulane and Loyola Universities are all with in walking distance.

Our fourth (Earthkeepers) and fifth graders (Sunship Earth) participate in T.R.E.E. (Teaching Responsible Earth Education). T.R.E.E.'s mission is to educate children and adults about the life science processes that govern our planet, to inspire them to appreciate the natural world, and to motivate them to protect it.

Our fifth grade French Program students travel to France every spring to enter a fully, foreign-languge, immersed situation and to strengthen their French fluency. The highlight of the experience is attendence at a French school and living with host families. This trip is the culmination of their elementary educational experience as they begin to prepare for thier next steps - refining foreign language skills through Middle School.

Our 8th grade Montessori students plan a trip on their own under the guidance of their teachers. The students rely on their years of Montessori learning to create ther own, one-of-a-kind, educational experience. They work together and make decisions considering both the possibilties and the realistic limitations of their abilities. In the past our 8th graders have gone to Atlanta, and Washington D.C.
